The Causes for Electric Motor Heating of the Ball Press Machine

Electric motor heating of the ball press machine is a very common phenomenon in fine-coal briquetting equipment, the causes of which needs to be judged by checking the temperature of the electric motor in operation, thus to solve the problem. The causes for electric motor heating generally includes the following several aspects.

1. The air gap is too thin between the stator and rotor of the electric motor, liable to causing collisions between the stator and rotor.

2. The abnormal vibrations or noise of the electric motor easy to result in electric motor heating.

3. The improper operation of the ball press machine’s bearings is sure to cause electric motor heating.

4. When the ball press machine is running, if its power voltage is slightly higher, it will cause the exciting current increase and electric motor overheat. Excessive power voltage will imperil the insulation of the electric motor by inflicting breakdown on it. When the power voltage is too low, the electromagnetic torque will greatly lower. At that time, if the load torque doesn’t reduce correspondingly, in addition to a excessively slow rotation speed of the rotor, then the increasing slip ratio will lead to electric motor overload and heating, and a long period of overload will have a bad effect on its service life. When the three-phase voltage is asymmetric, it will cause the current of a certain phase exaggerates and the electric motor heats up. In the meantime, the torque decrease will cause a steady buzzing, which will damage the winding over time as well.

5. Internal winding short circuit, turn-to-turn short circuit, interphase short circuit, or winding open-circuit may happen to the electric motor. No matter which kind of short circuit happens, it will make the current increase, causing local heating and insulation aging, and finally damage the electric motor. No matter winding short circuit or open-circuit, it all can bring about electric motor heating or even burn-out.
